MIKE HERRERA

Mike Herrera brings a wealth of playing experience and a passion for helping young athletes unlock their potential to the Salt City Kings. A Syracuse, NY native, Mike enjoyed a competitive playing career from juniors through the professional ranks, featuring standout performances with the Utica Jr. Comets and collegiate play at Utica University, before continuing in the SPHL with teams including the Pensacola Ice Flyers and Macon Mayhem.

Mike’s firsthand experience as a high-level competitor gives him a unique perspective on what it takes to succeed on the ice. He leverages that insight every day working with our players breaking down video, reinforcing proper technique, teaching advanced concepts, and pushing athletes to improve their decision-making and habits under pressure.

As Player Development Coach, Mike leads our Hudl Instat video review sessions, giving players detailed analysis of their performance to accelerate growth and understanding of the game. Whether it’s one-on-one skills coaching or team video breakdowns, Mike’s commitment to development, communication, and accountability helps our athletes elevate their play both physically and mentally.

His combination of competitive experience, coachability, and dedication to teaching makes him a true asset to the Kings and a trusted mentor for players striving to take the next step in their hockey careers.
