JIMMY WHALEN

Jim grew up playing hockey in Boston and attended Catholic Memorial High School, an elite hockey program south of the city. He was the starting goalie from 1994 to 1996, posting an undefeated season, winning a state championship, and earning First Team All-Star honors. Upon graduation, Jim played junior hockey in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), enjoying successful seasons with both the Bridgewater Bandits and Walpole Junior Stars. After juniors, he continued his career at the Division I level, playing college hockey at Niagara University.

Since finishing his playing career, Jim has remained actively involved in the hockey community as a coach at various levels. He began as head coach of the Bantam Major Rochester Red Wings from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, he joined the McQuaid Jesuit High School varsity hockey program in Rochester, where he spent nine seasons as both an assistant coach and goalie coach, helping the team win a state championship in 2015.

From 2017 to 2021, Jim served as the head coach of the Fairport Varsity Hockey Team, just outside of Rochester, NY. Over the past nine years, he has also worked as a goalie coach for both the Rochester Jr. Americans and Rochester Coalition programs, continuing to develop and mentor young goaltenders at the highest levels.
